Pamela,
Climate Power has been sounding the alarm on data centers since Trump was trying to pass his Big Ugly Bill.
We saw what was coming: As artificial intelligence and new data centers drive up energy demand, families would be left paying the price -- unless we moved quickly to build more affordable, reliable clean energy to help bridge the gap.
So we got to work.
We briefed lawmakers and community leaders. We polled people across the country. Our research team tracked utility prices, clean energy investments, and the policies shaping where and how data centers are built. And even stood up a data center tracker.
And yesterday, we got some great news. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro took a huge step to protect Pennsylvanian families from higher utility bills and air pollution, signing an executive order requiring tech companies to use more clean energy to power their data centers.
Climate Power is doing important work to make sure governors across the country understand the real consequences of data centers and the impact they're having on their communities. And this is exactly the work your contribution supports. Will you pitch in to make sure we can continue pushing lawmakers to take action on data centers in their states?

This week, we saw our message gaining traction.
Governor Shapiro’s announcement is an important step. And it’s exactly the kind of leadership we need to see more of.
Because, while Climate Power has been working to make sure lawmakers understand what’s at stake, Trump and his allies are doing the opposite. They’re giving Big Tech a blank check and pushing for data centers to be powered by polluting fossil fuels -- even when that means higher costs and dirtier air for everyone else.
We know the harm unchecked data center expansion can do to communities. And Pennsylvania is showing us that leaders can choose a different path.
Now, Climate Power is working every day to make sure leaders in communities across the country have the information, research, and public pressure they need to fight for families -- not fast-track projects for Big Tech.
Pennsylvania can be just the beginning. Will you chip in $10 or more today to help us keep pushing governors and lawmakers to protect communities from the costs of the data center boom?
Thank you for showing up in this fight,
Climate Power
