In one month, I will stand trial. My name is Angie Nixon and I am the Democratic nominee for Florida's Senate race. This is my story. Three months ago, I staged a sit-in outside Ron DeSantis' office. I was protesting the blatant racial gerrymander Republicans shoved through the state legislature within hours of the Louisiana V. Calais ruling. A ruling that was plainly intended to take power away from the voters and stop Republicans from being thrown out of office during the midterms. They handcuffed me and charged me with resisting an officer and trespassing. The maximum sentence if convicted is two years in prison. If they think the threat of a trial is going to make me back down, they picked the wrong woman. Now, I’m the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in Florida in a stunning political upset.
