We’re taking a risk

As you may know, we’re over halfway to our big quarterly FEC deadline, and before we ask you to make a contribution, here’s what you should know:

Our race in Ohio is expected to be one of the most expensive Senate races in the country this year. We will likely shatter the record for the most expensive Senate race in U.S. history. By a lot. Because winning this battleground race requires us to reach more voters across more media markets than ever before.

Several election experts rate this race as a toss-up. The polls are razor-close, and multiple models from experts like Nate Silver all indicate it could go either way.

That’s why the New York Times called Sherrod a “really important Democrat — one of the most important running for office.” The Senate majority is going to be decided by voters in the Buckeye State.

We are taking a risk by stretching our budget right now. We’re spending nearly every dollar we raise each day because we can’t wait to go on offense. If we don’t put in the work now, super PACs will drown us out even more and we could forfeit all of the momentum we’ve built up until this point. So we must scale up our fundraising now to get across the finish line in November.

That’s why we need a surge in support this week to stay on track to win. So here is our request:

We need you to chip in $5 or anything you can to Sherrod Brown today. We’re more than 50% to our next FEC deadline, but only about 35% to our goal. It’s a big gap to make up, so your support right now is paramount.
