After six months of illegal war, Hegseth must go

Impeachment is the answer to an out-of-control cabinet member abusing their power.

Win Without War

Pamela: Last year, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth set out to gut a crucial Pentagon office that exists to protect civilians in conflict, arguing that it was “woke” and at odds with “maximum lethality.” But when he asked America’s top military commanders to back him, every single one rejected the idea.[1]

Hegseth gutted the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response Program anyway. Less than a year later, a U.S. strike would kill 156 people at a school in Minab, Iran on the first day of the Trump administration’s illegal war on Iran.

This is how Hegseth operates, Pamela: ignore warnings, make reckless decisions, and then refuse to answer for the consequences.

When an out-of-control official abuses power, undermines the rule of law, and harms communities here and abroad, impeachment is the answer. We’ve seen how pressure from Congress and the public can help topple Trump’s cabinet members before, so let’s come together to do it again.

Today, as Hegseth helps extend a war that Trump promised us would be over “very soon” six months ago, now is the moment to make sure our demands for impeachment echo unmistakably through the halls of the Capitol. Tell your members of Congress to impeach Hegseth.

ACT NOW

We knew Hegseth was unfit to serve during his nomination process. Every day since, his callous disregard for human life, contempt for oversight, and failure to respect the rule of law have only proven us right.

Under Hegseth’s watch, the Pentagon has been accused of obfuscating the number of U.S. servicemembers killed and injured in the war on Iran to hide the human costs of Trump’s disastrous war and avoid public scrutiny.

That’s not all: After reports of supply shortages, contaminated water, deteriorating mental health, and dangerously low morale amongst sailors on an extended deployment aboard the USS Lincoln, Hegseth drew outrage from servicemembers and their families by dismissing the warnings, saying the conditions had been “completely misrepresented.”[2]

We all deserve better than Pete Hegseth, Pamela — who’s now installing conservative influencers to key Pentagon positions to amplify far-right talking points and attack the Trump administration’s critics.

Rep. Yassamin Ansari has already introduced seven articles of impeachment against Hegseth, giving us the path we need to push him out and clear the way for new leadership at the Pentagon. Now, we all have a role to play in piling on the public pressure to demand accountability.

Together, let’s raise our voices now and make the political costs of retaining Hegseth too high to bear. Add your name to demand Congress impeach SecDef Hegseth.

Thank you for working for peace,
