Dear MoveOn member,
As of 12:01 a.m. today, the Department of Homeland Security has shut down.1
The shutdown is a result of a massive campaign by MoveOn members and other activists who pressured Senate Democrats to vote NO on any deal to give a single more penny to ICE.
But now, here comes the hard part: making sure Senate Democrats don't fold.
Because ... boy, Democrats sure are good at that. Remember when, just a few months ago, Senate Democrats betrayed the American people by voting to reopen the government—with no concessions from Republicans on health care?
We can't have a repeat.
Which is why we need to be ready to ramp up our pressure campaign and ensure Senate Democrats don't fold. That means more hard-hitting billboards and ads, more actions outside their offices, more lobby visits, and many more calls, letters, and texts flooding into Congress.
All to keep Democrats from caving like they did last time.
Can you chip in $9 to pressure Senate Democrats to hold firm and not cave to more ICE funding? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Andra, the tide is turning, thanks to the advocacy of millions of us across the country who are marching, protesting, and resisting ICE's atrocities.
The Trump administration announced it is ending its immigration surge in Minnesota and that it will withdraw thousands of its immigration agents who are currently in Minneapolis.2
We have ICE on its heels.
And Senate Democrats are finally growing a spine.
But we can't let up now—not when we're this close to blocking billions in funding for Trump's deportation force.
In this critical moment, we cannot let Democrats cave. It is up to us to ensure they hold firm. Already, Senator John Fetterman has bent the knee to ICE and voted with Republicans to keep DHS open.3 But we cannot lose one single more Democrat in the Senate.
Will you rush a $9 donation right now to keep up the pressure and help drive ICE out of our neighborhoods? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Your donation will be used to power protests and vigils, flood congressional offices with calls, and organize lobby visits so senators hear directly from their constituents about the need to get ICE out of our communities.
Thanks for all you do.
