Whether they are traveling to their next deployment, visiting a USO Center on base or visiting a USO Center on an aircraft carrier out at sea, these moments to decompress remind them that they are not alone and that we appreciate all they do to serve our country.
"[The troops come in] and we let them know … this is all for you, everything's free," says Gene Maynard, one of our longtime volunteers at the USO Center at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.
