Sisters and Brothers -
The political revolution was never about electing one person to become President of the United States. It is a movement to elect progressives at every level of government who will represent all of us and not just the 1 percent.
Today, I am writing with a time sensitive request to make a contribution to Nida Allam's Democratic primary for Congress in North Carolina.
Nida has spent her public life standing up to the billionaire class and fighting for working people: raising wages for county workers, pushing for relief from rising costs and standing up to the special interests who think they can buy our democracy.
Her primary is in less than one week, and she needs our help today. Here is why:
Our recent victories — from Zohran in New York to Analilia in New Jersey — have been a nightmare for both the Republican establishment and the Democratic establishment.
Their wins show that if a candidate is prepared to take on the big money interests, fight for an agenda that speaks to the needs of working people and run a grassroots campaign — no matter how powerful the opposition is — that candidate can win.
That is why not one, but two super PACs, have spent $2 million in one week to defeat Nida Allam in North Carolina. It is an absolutely obscene amount of money for a Democratic primary.
It also shows how scared they are — of Nida, and of the momentum our progressive movement has built.
So Nida needs us and she needs us now. We have spoken with her this morning and they know this note is coming and are making plans to increase their outreach in the final days to combat these super PAC attacks against her.
That is why I am once again asking for your financial support:
If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your split contribution instantly:
If we are serious about creating transformative change in this country — and if we're serious about taking on the powerful special interests that want to protect the status quo — we need to elect more great candidates like Nida.
Are we going to win this race?
I do not have a crystal ball to answer that question for you. But I know that she needs our help today if she is going to get it done.
In solidarity,
Bernie
