Pamela,
Everything is more expensive now: Health care. Groceries. Utilities. Home insurance.
As climate disasters get worse, insurance companies are hiking premiums, cutting coverage, or canceling policies altogether in floodzones and fire-prone areas. Families are opening their mortgage statements and seeing insurance premiums jump by hundreds -- sometimes thousands -- of dollars.
ADD YOUR NAME: We're demanding an end to this corporate greed. While the home insurance industry leaves families in the lurch, corporate polluters causing the climate crisis just keep cashing in. Join us in holding them accountable.
This is part of Trump's affordability crisis. Costs are rising, corporate profits are soaring, and everyday people are left scrambling to keep up.
But here's what's even more alarming: Black homeowners are hit especially hard.
Thanks to decades of housing discrimination and the legacy of redlining, many Black families live in neighborhoods that are likely to face more frequent flooding, extreme heat, or storms. Instead of investing in those communities, insurance companies are pulling policies or charging more: This is a climate-driven form of financial discrimination, a modern form of redlining.
Being a homeowner isn't just about having a place to live, it's a savings account. It's an investment to pass down to your kids and future generations. When insurance becomes unaffordable, when families lose their homes after a storm and have no ability to rebuild, that security disappears. That legacy goes up in smoke.
We don't have to accept this, Pamela. Sign on to demand lawmakers crack down on rate hikes, stop discriminatory insurance practices, and invest in climate resilience for Black communities now.
Thank you for taking action,
Climate Power
