Pamela,
Yesterday we shared an opportunity to help stop the Florida SAVE Act (SB 1334 and HB 991) while we still can. You can read that email below. We have shifted our strategy from calling fellow Common Cause members to calling voters in key districts.
We have another opportunity for you to fight back, tomorrow at 6:30pm EST.
We need you at the Common Cause Florida phone bank on Thursday, February 26 at 6:30 PM EST.
Time is running out to tell our State Senators to keep their hands off our votes.
Right now in Tallahassee, legislators are advancing the Florida SAVE Act (SB 1334 and HB 991), dangerous bills that will remove thousands of eligible U.S. citizens from Florida's voter rolls and make it impossible for many citizens to register.
It could be heard on the Senate Floor as early as this Thursday.
If passed, these bills would force voters to re-verify their citizenship through error-prone databases and risk being kicked off the rolls, even if they've been voting for years.
We can still stop this. But we have to move quickly.
That's why we're hosting a Common Cause Florida phone bank on Wednesday, February 25 at 3 PM EST, and we need you with us.
We'll be calling fellow Common Cause members and asking them to contact their State Senators and urge them to vote
NO on SB 1334. No experience is necessary.
We'll provide:
• A short training
• A clear script
• A supportive team environment
• Everything you need to feel confident!
It only takes 90 minutes to help protect voting rights across Florida.
Our voices matter. Let's tell our elected officials to keep their hands off our votes!
Can you join us on Wednesday?
In common cause,
Oliver Torres, FL Program Manager
And the team at Common Cause Florida
