For the first few months of the year, our lawmakers have a chance to write, debate, and pass laws that tackle critical issues, from access to health care and the cost of living to public education. But all too often, anti-voter extremists use this time period to advance legislation that restricts our freedoms, including the freedom to vote. In recent years, new Georgia laws have criminalized handing out food and water to voters in line, imposed burdensome voter ID requirements, made mass voter purges easier, and placed unnecessary limits on ballot drop boxes. And what happens in Georgia doesn't stay in Georgia — our state has become a laboratory for new voter suppression measures that spread across the country.  So in the next couple of months before the legislative session ends, we need to be ready for anything.
