Pamela,
This week, lawmakers in the Florida Legislature are considering three dangerous bills that aim to take away our freedom. As politicians in Tallahassee try to seize even more power from the people, it is time to remind them who they work for: us!
Contact your representatives TODAY and tell them to oppose these bills.
1. Voter Purge: The Florida SAVE Act (HB 991 & SB 1334)
- Will block thousands of U.S. citizens from voting, especially seniors, married women, youth, and naturalized citizens.
- HB 991 being heard in House State Affairs Committee on February 17 at 8:30am.
- SB 1334 being heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee on Transportation, Tourism, and Economic Development on February 18 at 8:30am.
2. Anti-Diversity in Local Government (SB 1134)
- Would prohibit counties and municipalities from operating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and prevent local governments from supporting community events like Pride and Black History Month.
- SB 1134 being heard in the Senate Rules Committee on February 17 at 12:00pm.
3. Outlawing Activism (SB 1632)
- Will give the Governor and Cabinet the power to label organizations as "domestic terrorists" through a secretive process. This is particularly concerning after we saw federal officials disparage VA nurse Alex Pretti as a "domestic terrorist" just last month.
- SB 1632 being heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee on Criminal and Civil Justice on February 18 at 10:30am.
