Pamela, we deserve a country where we can all feel safe, afford our basic needs, and have a real say in our futures.
But to get there, we need a government where everyone – not just billionaires, special interests, or power-hungry politicians – makes the decisions.
Common Cause is ready to build it, but we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’ve launched One Million Conversations – a distributed organizing effort all about coming together.
It’s easy to feel defeated – prices are skyrocketing, ICE is terrorizing whole communities, and the regime in power is trying to prosecute and jail its critics.
So, we’re taking it back to the basics: what if an earnest conversation could be the solution?
It’s simple, Pamela. We’re encouraging our members to talk to people in their communities – to figure out what kind of country we want to live in, what’s standing in the way, and what we’re willing to do to fix it.
And so we’re asking Common Cause members (or anyone willing) to host events where we have real conversations, across differences, and figure out how to repair what’s wrong with the country.
This surely isn’t a new concept – Mister Rogers mastered it years ago, but when the people in charge want to make us care more about being right than understanding one another, it’s exactly what we need.
And we’re not just talking. We’re using the ideas that come from these conversations to drive our organizing and policy priorities for 2027.
Here’s where you come in. I’m asking you right now to help us — as proof of concept — go as big as possible this summer. Our goal is to hold at least 1,000 events, each of which can host dozens of conversations and get us a huge chunk of the way toward our Million Conversations goal. Will you chip in $5 and become a founding donor of One Million Conversations?
