Trump may have found a way to pass a new SAVE Act.

Pamela, For quite a while now, Donald Trump’s #1 legislative priority has been a mass voter suppression bill. And Congressional Republicans may have found a way to finally pass it. The so-called SAVE Act is a modern-day poll tax that adds expensive, burdensome requirements to the voter registration process. If implemented nationwide, it could block tens of millions of eligible voters from casting their ballots. Now leaders in the House and Senate are scheming to advance a new version of this bill through a sneaky, back-door process that could pass with simple majorities in each chamber — overcoming the 60-vote requirement that previously kept it from getting through the Senate. We must act quickly to show strong public opposition to the bill and make lawmakers realize that they’d face significant backlash for passing it. Take urgent action now: Contact your members of Congress and demand they vote NO on the SAVE Act. Say NO to the SAVE Act And if you can, pitch in a donation of any amount to help power our advocacy against anti-voter legislation and help defend the freedom to vote. Trump is fixated on signing this bill because he’s desperate to do anything he can to restrict access to the ballot box and seize control over the midterm elections. Here’s a quick recap of the damage the SAVE Act could do if it becomes law: Force people to show expensive government documents in person before registering to vote — documents that tens of millions of Americans do not have easy access to. Place particular burdens on working-class Americans, communities of color, military voters, tribal citizens, rural Americans, survivors of natural disasters, and tens of millions of married women who’ve changed their names. Enable future voter purges, which are notorious for removing eligible Americans from the rolls. We need to keep raising our voices against this mass voter suppression legislation.
