Pamela, Here in the South, now that the Supreme Court has greenlit racist new voting maps, we’re up against a full-on, coordinated, Neo-Confederate effort to rip representation away from Black and brown voters and cement one-party rule for the GOP. It’s a five-alarm fire. But Black leaders have warned that our region isn’t getting the resources and attention it needs: POLITICO:“Black lawmakers and activists across the Deep South argue they have been abandoned by the Democratic Party to fight an existential crisis on their own. They say they’ve been let down by nearly all corners of the party: would be-presidential hopefuls who have flocked to early and swing states but don’t bring their megaphones elsewhere; congressional leadership focused on majority-making battlegrounds while safe Black seats are drawn out; and years of chronic underfunding that has allowed local party apparatus to wither away.” No matter what, Fair Fight will never abandon the South. It’s where we were founded, and it’s where we’ll stay — fighting voter suppression, promoting voter education, pushing back against disinformation, electing Democracy Champions, and powering a movement for free and fair elections. Make a donation to fuel our work and defend the freedom to vote in the South and across the country. We got our start in Georgia, where it took years of grassroots organizing and sustained investments to mobilize a new electorate and make the Peach State one of the most competitive battlegrounds in the country.
There’s no reason we can’t tell that same story about more states throughout the South — including Mississippi, where we are one of the main Southern organizations fighting to elect Democrat Scott Colom to the U.S. Senate. And the work goes on in Georgia, where we are in striking distance of flipping the State House from red to blue and where we’ve got huge races for Governor and Senate this year. But it’s going to take ongoing support to turn out and empower new voters, lift up the work of pro-voter allies, and elect Democracy Champions across the South. We’re rooted in the South, we’re still fighting for free and fair elections in the South, and we’re not going anywhere. Thank you for being on this grassroots team, which helps make our work possible. Can you make a donation of any amount to keep up the fight in the years to come? In solidarity,
