Friend, the sheer devastation of the flash floods in Nepal is coming to light. At least 900 people are confirmed dead. Over 4,700 are still missing. Roads are blocked. Communities are cut off. Four health facilities are damaged, and 69 schools lie in ruins. Children who survived now face the terrifying risk of disease, hunger and exploitation.
One of the most urgent concerns right now is family separation. When the floods hit, children were either on the way to school or already in class, and many were ushered into rescue centers without a guardian. Now, rescue teams are moving them again as centers are becoming overcrowded. Our main priority is helping children find their parents. So far, we’ve reunited more than 69 children with their parents or legal guardians. We’re also establishing child-friendly spaces, setting up sanitation facilities, providing emergency shelter kits and more. Your gift to our Children’s Emergency Fund can be matched 2X* to help us respond to the urgent needs of children in Nepal and other crisis zones worldwide.
