Campaign emergency. Crypto is coming after Sherrod Brown again.

It's Patrick, and I'll cut to it: Crypto is spending against Sherrod – to the tune of $30 million. We are the only state they are spending in, and it’s a full-scale campaign emergency.

I've got a million thoughts running through my head, but here's what this boils down to.

1. This tactic worked for Republicans in the last election. In 2024, Sherrod was neck and neck in the polls (just like he is right now), so crypto spent millions of dollars to attack him. And it worked – he slid in the polls and ended up losing.

2. Senate Republicans put out a cry for help a few weeks ago asking outside spenders to swoop in and bail out Jon Husted. Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Donald Trump have already sent in reinforcements and that now means Republicans are spending more in Ohio than anywhere else in the country.

3. We're doing something right. Look, the Senate map is ripe with opportunities for Democrats to flip seats, and Republicans are training their eyes on Ohio. That is not a coincidence. That is not a mistake. The GOP is the most worried about the campaign Sherrod is running – and that's why they're doing everything they can to put up roadblocks.

I won't pretend that this spending is nothing to worry about. It has the potential to crush us. We won’t be able to match their spending 1:1, but we have to be able to stay competitive. If we can mount a strong response, Sherrod will be able to keep his narrow lead in the polls and swing back at Republican attacks.

So today, I'm authorizing a $1 million emergency response fund to help us fend off the first wave of attacks, and a group of donors has agreed to match the first $500K to help us get a head start. Please, Sherrod and I need you to chip in if you can.
