SIGN NOW: Tell Congress to conduct strong oversight of the FCC and reject attempts to politicize it more >>
Pamela, Jimmy Kimmel said he’s been “threatened” by Trump’s FCC – which pressured Kimmel to pull his interview with Texas Senate candidate James Talarico from TV. [1]
Kimmel said it plainly, “His FCC threatened me, threatened my show, threatened our network... based on simple editorial decisions.” [2]
This is the same FCC that:
It’s clear Brendan Carr is weaponizing the FCC to push the president’s narratives – and silence voices who don’t fall in line.
It doesn’t matter what you think about Kimmel or Talarico. What matters is the FCC is now deciding which candidates and voices we can see and hear – and our lawmakers need to stop it.
Tell Congress: We demand real government oversight of the FCC – and we expect our lawmakers to stand up to this politicization. Add your name >>
Pamela – it doesn’t end here. Right now, Congress could potentially politicize the FCC even more by confirming a Republican FCC nominee – without a Democratic counterpart. [6]
From the start, Congress created the FCC to be a bipartisan, multi-member commission. This is crucial to ensuring that diverse perspectives are included in decisions affecting our communications infrastructure, media landscape, and access to information. [7]
But by nominating only Danielle Thumann Severs, a Republican, without pairing it with the nomination of a qualified Democrat (including re-nominating Democrat Anna Gomez), Trump is trying to make the FCC even more friendly to right-wing media and big corporations.
Kimmel is just the tip of the iceberg. This is a full-on FCC takeover. If lawmakers don’t step in and refuse to confirm Severs without Gomez or another qualified Democratic counterpart, our freedom of speech will continue to be censored at the hands of Brendan Carr.
Demand Congress stop Trump and Carr's FCC censorship agenda and refuse to help them reshape the FCC. Sign the petition >>
Here’s your chance to draw a firm line in the sand against attacks on our free press and our free speech.
Thanks for all you do,
