Since the Supreme Court dismantled the Voting Rights Act, anti-democracy forces have wasted no time forcing through egregious racial gerrymanders. Millions of voters, especially in communities of color, are at risk.
Congress must rein in the influence of wealthy, powerful interests and prevent hyper-ideological majorities on the Court from upending legislation that protects voters. Here are some specific reforms we are calling on the next Congress to pass:
Impose Supreme Court term limits of 18 years
Establish a binding code of ethics that applies to all justices
Require that new justices are appointed in the first and third years of each presidential term
