Pamela,
Common Cause Florida wishes you and your loved ones an early happy Independence Day! This weekend, we celebrate our democracy and the power we have to shape our country’s future. And we have the perfect way you can get involved. And we have the perfect way you can get involved.
We believe that voting should be simple, fair, and welcoming — no matter your age, background, or zip code. But lately, we’re seeing more and more challenges that make participating in the voting process harder than it should be.
Confusing rule changes, pressure on local election officials, and even attempts to intimidate voters are becoming more common across the country — and we’re feeling those same pressures right here in Florida.
One thing we’ve learned over the years is that having a friendly face there at the polls, someone who can answer questions and provide real-time support, can make a world of difference, especially for first time voters.
That’s why we’re recruiting nonpartisan poll monitors across the state ahead of the August Primary Elections. Poll monitors are the critical eyes and ears on the ground for the Florida Election Protection Coalition, assisting voters, connecting voters to legal resources, and reporting concerns about voter suppression.
Sign up to attend a training session and become a poll monitor today! >>
Never done anything like this before? That’s okay! We’re offering training that will tell you everything you need to know about basic voter rights in Florida and how to observe for issues that impact voting. Plus, you only need to attend one training session to volunteer as a nonpartisan poll monitor for the rest of the year.
The 2026 elections are going to directly impact our lives, and can be decided by just a few votes. Supporting voters and monitoring polling places in your county so everyone can cast a ballot and have it count are the kinds of small, steady acts of care that keep our democracy strong.
If you agree Florida voters deserve support, protection, and a helpful, friendly face when they vote next month, then now's your chance to do something about it.
Help voters in your county this election season >>
Thank you for everything you do — not just during elections, but all year long — to help make our democracy healthy, fair, and welcoming for everyone who calls Florida home.
With deep appreciation,
Oliver Torres, Program Manager
and the team at Common Cause Florida
