Pamela, Common Cause Florida wishes you and your loved ones an early happy Independence Day! This weekend, we celebrate our democracy and the power we have to shape our country’s future. And we have the perfect way you can get involved. And we have the perfect way you can get involved. We believe that voting should be simple, fair, and welcoming — no matter your age, background, or zip code. But lately, we’re seeing more and more challenges that make participating in the voting process harder than it should be. Confusing rule changes, pressure on local election officials, and even attempts to intimidate voters are becoming more common across the country — and we’re feeling those same pressures right here in Florida. One thing we’ve learned over the years is that having a friendly face there at the polls, someone who can answer questions and provide real-time support, can make a world of difference, especially for first time voters.   That’s why we’re recruiting nonpartisan poll monitors across the state ahead of the August Primary Elections. Poll monitors are the critical eyes and ears on the ground for the Florida Election Protection Coalition, assisting voters, connecting voters to legal resources, and reporting concerns about voter suppression.
