Donald Trump's EPA is ripping up protections to public health, and it starts with reversing the Endangerment Finding.

EPA to stop calculating deaths avoided and health care savings from air pollution rules

Pamela,
This week, Trump's EPA decided to change how we measure the cost of pollution by simply no longer calculating the value of human life. For the first time in the agency's history, the value of preventing asthma attacks and even premature deaths is being treated as zero in calculating the costs of pollution. They're finally saying the quiet part out loud: Profits before people.
This latest betrayal of the American people by the Trump administration is both egregious and frightening. But not shocking. We want to know, do you think the government should protect clean air and our health from pollution?
Over the last year, we've shared update after update on how the Trump administration is systematically attacking basic protections for our air, water, and future. Trump and his handpicked yes-men leading the EPA have been firing, reversing, defunding, and erasing climate science and those who support it since taking office. They've been crystal clear all along: They'll put profits before people every single time.
And now, we're seeing reports that in addition to this polluter giveaway, Trump's EPA will soon codify their dismissal of pollution's impacts on our health and safety by reversing the Endangerment Finding.
We won't judge if you don't know what the Endangerment Finding is (it's not just about the polar bears) -- here's what you need to know:
-
It's the government's conclusion that toxic pollution is dangerous to public health, and, therefore, has a legal obligation and responsibility to protect American families from that pollution.
-
This is the foundation of nearly every federal climate protection on the books that limits the pollution that causes asthma and worsens heart disease and many critical illnesses.
-
By reversing the Endangerment Finding, the Trump Administration is saying it's no longer their responsibility to reduce pollution to protect public health -- starting a chain reaction to dismantle pollution protections and give free rein to pollute.
So, in a world without the Endangerment Finding, the Oil and Gas industry and every polluting industry out there will not be held accountable for the toxic waste they create and expose us to. Communities will pay the price with more health impacts like asthma, cancer, and premature deaths, and worsening extreme weather storms and heatwaves.
We want to hear from you, Pamela: Do you think the government should limit toxic pollution and protect clean air?
Thanks for joining us in holding polluters accountable,
