When federal judges tried to toss out Louisiana's new, more representative, Voting Rights Act-compliant congressional map, this movement immediately got to work.

One of our affiliates, the National Redistricting Foundation, supported Louisiana voters who filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court — calling on the justices to keep the current map in place while legal proceedings continue.

And that's exactly what the Supreme Court ordered. As a result, Black Louisianians, who make up about one-third of the state's population, will have the opportunity to elect candidates of their choice in two of the state's six congressional districts in the 2024 election.

This is a clear victory for Black Louisianians, who have fought for years for the equal representation they deserve as citizens. But just like all of our work, this fight is far from over.

So while we are celebrating this victory, we need to double down on our work to defend democracy and ensure fair representation.

We just got new polling on the race for U.S. Senate here in Michigan, and I wanted to make sure you saw it. Bottom line: We are in a statistical dead-heat against one of the leading Republicans, Mike Rogers — with a ton of Michigan swing voters still undecided.

Elissa Slotkin: 39.8%
Mike Rogers: 36.8%
Undecided: 23.3%

Polling is a notoriously fickle science, especially since it's still early, but this data underscores a fundamental truth: Michigan is a swing state, and swing states have a tendency to...swing. Despite Democrats' success in receny years, we know it can flip red under the right conditions.

So in light of this new poll, I want to ask if you'll consider making a $3 contribution to my campaign.

$3, because we are in a statistical tie against a Trump-endorsed candidate.

$3, because Democrats only have a 51 seat majority in the U.S. Senate, and with Joe Manchin's retirement and a likely flip in West Virginia, we need to hold onto this seat for Democrats to retain control of the body.

$3, because our race is the top of the ticket in Michigan — which means what happens will likely have an impact on the presidential race here as well.
