Act Now: Reject funding for Trump’s lawless, violent ICE agency

The Trump admin is building a world where federal agents can terrorize communities and kill.

Win Without War

Pamela: Weeks after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed Renee Good, Trump is asking for more money to fund ICE's parent department, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

While the Trump administration tries to build a world where federal agents can terrorize communities and kill with impunity, Congress must REFUSE so much as a penny toward ICE.

People are demanding accountability, and momentum is growing on Capitol Hill to hold Trump's lawless, violent immigration officials accountable. Across the caucus, House Democrats are saying they'll vote "NO" against this DHS appropriations bill — and even leadership is opposing the funding bill.

It's a major escalation that we can't take for granted. Added pressure from constituents like you can help us build a majority of lawmakers willing to reject funding for DHS. Will you join tens of thousands of activists in speaking out today?

Tell Your Representative: REJECT the DHS appropriations package and more funding for Trump's lawless immigration force.

ACT NOW

The DHS appropriations bill Trump is pushing utterly fails to meet this moment, Pamela — a moment where people are seeing ICE agents kill a woman in broad daylight, attack protesters, deport 5-year-olds, and tear families apart.

ICE's budget has ballooned tenfold over the last decade. With $85 BILLION already at its disposal, ICE is the highest-funded law enforcement agency in the country.[1]

That's more than the entire Justice Department, which includes the FBI.

At least five people have been killed by federal immigration officers since Trump entered office one year ago. They will likely not be the last, as an increasingly lawless and militarized ICE stands to become only further emboldened with a windfall of federal funding.

This appropriations bill allocates a $403 million increase in ICE's budget for mandatory jail beds. More than 70,000 people are currently incarcerated in immigration jails. Last year, dozens died in ICE custody. If passed, we will undoubtedly see more detentions. More violence. More deportations.

Appropriating even more funds toward DHS that will feed into ICE's budget means normalizing the horrific state violence we've recently witnessed as the status quo.

It's unacceptable. If you're outraged, you're not alone: Thankfully, House Democrats appear largely united in rejecting this funding bill. And with the Republican majority in the House further narrowing due to illness and members leaving DC early to hit the campaign trail, there's a real chance that the funding bill fails. With your help, we'll hold them in line and build the majority we need to reject DHS appropriations and prevent ICE from getting a single dollar more.
