Andra—Yesterday, ICE murdered another person in Minneapolis. This time it was Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old VA intensive care unit nurse. ICE agents fired at least 10 shots at him after tackling him to the ground. He was carrying his cell phone.1
ICE needs to get out of Minneapolis immediately. Members of Congress must show some spine and do everything in their power to hold ICE accountable and save lives, including heading to Minneapolis themselves and blocking ICE funding.
MoveOn is mourning the loss of yet another life at the hands of ICE and continuing to mobilize to drive ICE out of our communities. Here is the email we had planned to send you before yesterday's senseless tragedy:
Dear MoveOn member,
When the NFL announced that Bad Bunny—one of the biggest musical artists in the world, who has spoken out forcefully against Donald Trump's immigration policies—is headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, Trump and his MAGA Republican cronies were enraged.
So enraged that Kristi Noem, secretary of homeland security, warned that ICE will be "all over the Super Bowl."2
But we will not let ICE terrorize our communities and our families at the largest sporting event in the U.S.
As part of our sustained campaign against ICE's atrocities, MoveOn is renting an airplane and flying an anti-ICE banner over today's championship football game at Mile High Stadium in Denver. The banner will have the message "NFL: No ICE at the Super Bowl" and include a number to text for information about getting involved in the campaign.
This game is the most high-profile NFL game other than the Super Bowl, and it will happen just two weeks before the nation's largest sporting event. It will be one of our last opportunities to tell the world loudly, urgently, and peacefully: No ICE at the Super Bowl.
Will you start a monthly donation of $5 to MoveOn to support our sustained campaign against ICE's atrocities? Your donation will enable MoveOn to rent an airplane, buy the anti-ICE banner, and fly it over the AFC championship NFL game—and then keep up our long-term efforts to rein in ICE.
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
Donald Trump and Republicans are deploying masked, poorly trained, and heavily armed ICE agents into our streets so they can get away with screwing working people over with no accountability.
Here's how Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez put it: "I want everybody to understand: The cuts to your health care are what's paying for this. So, understand how these dots connect. You get screwed over to pay a bunch of thugs in the street that are shooting mothers in the face. That is what this administration's doing."3
In the days since ICE killed Renee Good in cold blood in Minneapolis, MoveOn has mobilized and worked around the clock to scale up our campaign to stop ICE, including by:
- Very quickly helping to provide the infrastructure to safely hold 1,300 actions across the country to protest Good's killing, alongside our partners;
- Co-organizing a powerful vigil and rally outside Customs and Border Protection's headquarters with more than 1,000 people; and
- Flooding Congress with calls and texts—and 38,000 letters from MoveOn members last weekend alone—demanding that Congress not fund ICE.
And our "NFL: No ICE at the 2026 Super Bowl!" petition has been signed by more than 150,000 MoveOn members from every corner of the nation.4
We need resources to keep this movement growing. The next step in our long-term campaign is flying an airplane with a huge anti-ICE banner at today's NFL championship game in Denver. If we can pull it off, it will be impossible to ignore our voices.
Your support will help fuel MoveOn's next steps in the mass movement to stop ICE. Will you donate $5 a month?
