Today, the question is just as simple: Democracy or authoritarianism? I'm betting on democracy. Last March, No Kings filled streets and squares in the largest single-day protest this country has ever seen, and the message was unmistakable. Now we turn our people power into voter power. That is the purpose of No Kings: Vote Early this Saturday, October 17: a nationwide, nonpartisan day of voting early and protecting the vote, so that no one else gets to determine what comes next. A day like that doesn't organize itself. MoveOn is one of the core organizations at the heart of No Kings, and it's why I'm writing to you now. We have four days to raise $100,000. I know money is tight for a lot of people, but if you're able, will you chip in $9 so MoveOn can finalize training for hosts, do a final push for event attendance, and run its day-of hotline where hosts can call in for last-minute assistance? Remember, we need to raise $100,000 by Saturday. Big days of action do something special: They find the people who haven't joined in yet. Not just those who already agree with us, and not just the people reading this email. Think about the neighbor who is worried but feels alone, or who hasn't figured out how and when to vote. When they see people they know heading to the polls together, something shifts. They realize that taking part isn't unusual. It's happening all around them. And they take that first step. That's how a movement grows, and it's how we get the numbers we need. Thousands of events are already planned in big cities and small towns nationwide. Where voting has already begun, neighbors will walk to the polls together and organize rides. Where it starts later, communities will make sure everyone knows when and where to vote. MoveOn is helping every single one of these events, working one-on-one with volunteer hosts across the country, running training, maintaining the technology that coordinates safe, nonviolent, lawful events on a single day, and spreading the word through the media and directly to people everywhere. Reaching more people takes more resources, especially people who are ready to act but don't know where to start, or don't know that No Kings is meant for them. MoveOn needs those resources this week. MoveOn has been organizing for nearly 30 years and has the reach to find people in every corner of the country. What it needs is the funding to do that at the scale this moment demands.
