Pamela:
Yesterday, you heard from Alex Witt, our Senior Advisor for Elections. Here’s a number you should know: 11.2 million. That’s how many environmental voters the Environmental Voter Project estimates did not vote in the 2024 presidential election.
But here’s what we know to be true: These voters care about protecting our planet. The challenge is to help turn this concern into political power -- and that is the job of Climate Power.
Decisions that elected officials make about everything from AI data centers, to energy policy, to funding for extreme weather recovery and the National Weather Service, to our air and water -- that’s all climate policy. And it’s impacting our daily lives. It’s about how we budget for our families, how safe the air we breathe and the water we drink is, and how prepared our local governments are when disaster strikes. It’s all of that and more. And all voters deserve to understand these connections before casting a ballot.
That’s why we do what we do. We are climate’s campaign manager. We make sure that climate is a part of the election conversation and that elected officials are forced to answer for their records.
Can you chip in $5 to power our research, voter outreach, public education, and accountability work that helps voters know the stakes of this election and get out to vote with their environmental concerns front of mind?
Who we elect to public office helps to determine how we power our homes, protect our air and water, have resources to prepare for disasters, and build a safer future.
Our role is to help make this abundantly clear through:
🔍 Research: Conduct surveys and polling for insights on voter concerns and elected officials’ records.
📚 Education: Explain how climate and energy decisions affect everyday life, turning complex policy into clear, shareable content.
📋 Accountability: Check records, hold elected officials to their promises (or lack thereof), and make climate inaction and delay a losing strategy.
Each of these complements the others: Research helps us ask better questions, education helps people understand the answers, and accountability makes it harder for elected officials to dodge them.
