When our data scientists analyzed what went wrong in 2024, one thing became crystal clear: Trump won because voters who usually vote Democratic didn't turn out. Some felt left behind, like their lives wouldn't improve under either party. Others were highly engaged progressives who had lost trust in Democrats' ability to be a bold and effective voice for the people.
Then our data scientists found something shocking: In 11 battleground districts, the number of MoveOn members who skipped voting in 2024 exceeds the margin of victory needed to win those races in 2026.
We call them the skippers, and our entire program is built to reach them. Because they're MoveOn members, we can call them, text them, send mail, and send volunteers to their doors. At a time when trust in media and institutions is historically low, they know us.
The 1.3 million mail pieces, digital ads, and phone calls are that plan in action.
Now comes the part that decides everything. The final weeks are when a voter-turnout program either converts all of our work into actual votes—or not.
That work—and those votes—are what's at risk if we don't close our fundraising shortfall.
