Pamela,
Lets not beat around the bush—those in power want to control the results of our elections.
The majority of Americans agree that elections should represent the will of the people. But we see time and time again how those in power try to manipulate elections by keeping people from voting, spreading disinformation, and through measures like mid-decade redistricting and legislation designed to outlaw activism.
But there’s good news. Voting remains one of our most powerful tools of resistance. Efforts to keep people from voting wouldn’t be so prolific if our voices didn’t hold real power to build a system that works for everyone, not just the chosen few.
That’s why we need to have a presence at the polls, to fight voter confusion and intimidation, affirm voters’ rights, and make it clear that all eligible voters deserve to have their vote count. And that’s exactly what we’re doing.
We’re training and recruiting nonpartisan poll monitors— people who can be eyes and ears on-the-ground at polling locations to document obstacles to voting and help voters in their community in real time. Anyone can sign up to take part, and we’ll give you all of the tools you need to make a difference in your community.
Sign up to attend a training session and become a poll monitor today! >>
Together, we can decide our own future, choose our leaders, and make sure that the will of the people prevails. But it’s going to take all of us.
