Team, let me explain why all of this is happening now, and why I need your support.
Donald Trump is scared of losing the midterm elections.
That is why he attacks vote-by-mail, pushes for Republicans to redistrict, and asks states to purge their voting rolls.
His latest strategy is refusing to sign landmark bipartisan housing legislation into law. Americans are struggling with rising housing costs, and Trump is holding them hostage to try and force Congress to pass his extreme SAVE Act. This voter suppression bill would create unnecessary barriers to voting registration that could disenfranchise millions.
But this isn’t new. This is part of a playbook that the right has been running for decades because they are afraid of our power.
Poll taxes, literacy tests, changing polling locations.
These shell games and politically-motivated power grabs are meant to protect elected Republicans from their failure to make groceries, gas, health care, or housing more affordable for you and your family.
They want to cheat and choose their voters, instead of the voters deciding who they choose.
So we must fight fire with fire because time is running out before November. That is what this moment requires of all of us.
