Congress hasn't been this close to stopping Trump's warmongering since his first term, Pamela.
52 senators delivered a major blow to Trump's Venezuela plans last week when they voted to advance Sen. Tim Kaine's war powers resolution (WPR). Now, we all have a role to play in keeping this majority until we reach the finish line.
As we enter the final stages in the Senate this week, we can't let up the pressure for one second. Trump is in attack mode in the wake of several bruising losses, cursing out the five Republicans who voted against endless war and frantically trying to flip votes to repair his crumbling firewall in Congress.
As Trump grows more desperate, we, the people, need to stay focused on demands for peace.
Flooding Senate offices with calls from constituents demanding "NO NEW WARS!" before the next vote on Wednesday is how we do that. Will you join us, Pamela?
| MAKE A CALL |
We have the momentum right now, but it can disappear in an instant.
Tomorrow's expected to kick off a rapid-fire process that will determine whether a key resolution that would stop Trump's march to war, S.J.Res.98, passes the Senate. It will first face a motion to proceed, then hours of debate and a "vote-a-rama" amendment process — that Trump's allies in the Senate will likely leverage to sneak in bad-faith, poison-pill measures we'll have to defeat. If we make it past all that, then there's finally a vote on the resolution itself.
We know there will be multiple opportunities to lose votes. We know Trump is doing everything he can to get Republican Sens. Collins, Hawley, Murkowski, and Young to greenlight his lawless war. We know Sen. Fetterman voted "NO" on a similar WPR just a few months ago.
That's why we're leaving absolutely nothing up to chance. We have to go all out.
Thank you for working for peace,
The Win Without War team
P.S. We need to flood Senate offices with our demands for peace by any means possible. Can't get to the phone? Sign our petition to Senators by clicking this link.
