Pamela,
On April 20th the Florida Legislature will convene for a Special Session to redraw our Congressional map and try to give one party an advantage in the upcoming mid-term election. But Floridians aren’t having it.
Common Cause and partners across the state are rallying for a Day of Action in Tallahassee on Monday, April 20th to say WE DRAW THE LINES: NO PARTISAN MAPS!
Poll after poll has confirmed what we already know: voters across the state reject mid-decade redistricting. This isn’t a partisan issue—Republican, Democrat and Independent voters agree that politicians shouldn’t be allowed to manipulate our maps for their own benefit.
Under the Florida Constitution, redistricting for partisan advantage is illegal. We passed the Fair Districts Amendments to ensure that voters choose their politicians, not the other way around.
By trying to force through new maps now, these politicians are choosing partisan gamesmanship over the rule of law. If they succeed, it will mean less accountability, less representation, and a direct assault on policies you support getting passed into law.
- Rally against Mid-Decade Redistricting
- Attend legislative meetings
- Advocate to pass the Florida Voting Rights Act
Need help getting to Tallahassee? We have busses leaving from different parts of the state! Sign up here to reserve your spot on the bus!
Join us to send a clear message to the Florida Legislature: We are watching, and we will not let you ignore the Constitution.
In common cause,
Amy Keith, Executive Director
and the team at Common Cause Florida
