Dear friend:
With democracy on the line and freedom on the ballot, the summer of 2026 is the summer to devote to your country.
There are just hours until Democracy Summer applications close, and I want to make sure all the dedicated and enthusiastic high-school and college students in and around America know about this special chance to learn about politics from some of the best minds in the land and organize with Democratic campaigns on-the-ground.
Right now, young people are a crucial voice of reason and renewal in a nation overrun by deranged MAGA politics and a world overrun by fanaticism and war. The new generation is fired-up and demanding freedom from endless gun violence; escalating climate change; violent white supremacy; and a diet of right-wing lies and disinformation.
That’s why I’m proud to train the next generation of political leaders, activists and organizers every summer through our acclaimed Democracy Summer program. Born as a way to get my own children and nieces and nephews involved in politics, Democracy Summer has grown from a local organizing effort into a nationwide force for the defense of democracy and freedom—already training more than 3,500 college and high school students in 48 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico in prior election cycles.
With over 120 Democratic campaigns participating already in 2026, we are ready to channel youth outrage into an unstoppable force for change all across America.
I appreciate you hanging tough for American democracy through these perilous times, and I am sending love, strength and gratitude to you for your solidarity and friendship.
All best wishes,
Jamie Raskin
