Phonebank to Stop the Florida SAVE ACT

Right now in Tallahassee, legislators are advancing the Florida SAVE Act (SB 1334 and HB 991), dangerous bills that will remove thousands of eligible U.S. citizens from Florida's voter rolls and make it impossible for many citizens to register.

It could be heard on the Senate Floor as early as this Thursday.

If passed, these bills would force voters to re-verify their citizenship through error-prone databases and risk being kicked off the rolls, even if they've been voting for years.

We can still stop this. But we have to move quickly.

That's why we're hosting a Common Cause Florida phone bank on Wednesday, February 25 at 3 PM EST, and we need you with us.

We'll be calling fellow Common Cause members and asking them to contact their State Senators and urge them to vote NO on SB 1334. No experience is necessary.

Get Trump’s name off the Kennedy Center and keep it off federal buildings!

Petition to Congress:

We urge you to call to remove Trump's name from the Kennedy Center. And we urge you to reject any attempt to put Trump on Dulles Airport, Penn Station, Mount Rushmore, currency, other airports, national landmarks, and monuments. We also ask that you support the SERVE Act, legislation to stop presidents from renaming historic buildings after themselves.

When Trump puts his name on American institutions like the Kennedy Center and distorts aspects of the country's history, he is putting his authoritarian stamp on the nation.

His blatant politicization and weaponization of congressionally-approved funding for New York and New Jersey is part of this alarming trend. Last week, Trump told Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer that the White House would release funding to the states if Schumer helped get Trump's name on Dulles Airport and Penn Station.

Senator Bernie Sanders called Trump's demands "brazenly corrupt" and "sick, twisted, and egomaniacal." Congress has a constitutional duty to stop Trump's grotesque autocratic glorification projects.

"It's no secret that President Trump is undermining democracy and moving this country toward authoritarianism. Part of that strategy is to create the myth of the 'Great Leader' by naming public buildings after himself — something that dictators have done throughout history," Sen. Sanders said after introducing the SERVE Act.

When Trump's budget director, and lead author of Project 2025, Russell Vought first withheld $16 billion in funding to NY and NJ for a massive transit project, he made the ridiculous claim that the administration wanted to ensure the money wasn't spent on "unconstitutional DEI principles." This direct assault on Congress's power to appropriate funds was always a political attack on Democratic-led states, and is now also a ploy to glorify Trump.

The Kennedy Center follows a long line of landmarks and high-profile entities that Trump or his MAGA allies are trying to put his name or face on: Mount Rushmore, U.S. currency, the D.C. airport and metro, a class of American battleships, and, now, Dulles and Penn Station.

Congress must protect the law, democracy, and America's most important historical and cultural institutions from Trump.

Tonight, once again, Donald Trump will lie directly to the American people.

He did not "solve affordability" or "bring prices down starting day one." Instead, he did the opposite.

He has used the presidency to line his own pockets and enrich his billionaire friends; target SNAP, Medicaid, and programs for our veterans; terrorize our local communities; jeopardize our national security; and put our economy at risk of recession. I could go on and on.

Trump attacked MoveOn last night

Dear MoveOn member,

Last night, Donald Trump sent out an email attacking our People's State of the Union.

He called us "Woke extremists." He said we're "foaming at the mouth." He accused us of "Total Sabotage" and staged walkouts designed to please the "Fake News Media."

We'll take that as a compliment.

When Trump feels the need to attack us the night before his all-important address to Congress, it means he's scared. It means what we're doing is working. And it means our pro-democracy movement is getting stronger.

Tonight, Trump will stand before Congress and lie.

He'll claim everything is going great while his administration slashes health care, sends masked ICE agents to terrorize our communities and kill our neighbors, and hands more tax cuts to the Epstein class. He'll take a victory lap while millions of Americans are one unexpected bill away from losing everything.

We refuse to let that be the only story told tonight.

That's why MoveOn and MeidasTouch are organizing The People's State of the Union on the National Mall tonight—hosted by Katie Phang and Joy Reid—to tell the real story of America in 2026: one of resilience, resistance, and organized opposition to Trump's cruelty and corruption.
