Dear MoveOn member,
We are in a highly dangerous moment, and what happens next is up to us.
Donald Trump is emboldened in the aftermath of his military aggression in Venezuela. His recklessness has reached new heights.
The Trump administration this week seized a Russian oil tanker in the North Atlantic, escalated its threats to invade Greenland, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, and Iran, and threatened ground troops and more violence in Venezuela if its demands for the country's oil aren't met.1,2,3
And as you read this email, oil executives are flying to Washington, D.C., to meet with Trump at the White House tomorrow, and weapons manufacturers and war profiteers are fanning out all over Capitol Hill—at a time when Americans cannot afford groceries, rent, or health care.4
It's up to us to stop this madness. And that means we must loudly push back against more endless war and quickly ramp up the pressure on Congress to oppose the United States "running" Venezuela.5 Because if we don't, the Trump administration will escalate this violence—not just in Venezuela but across the globe. The first vote was in the Senate today, and thanks to the public outcry, we passed the first hurdle of winning enough votes to consider Senator Tim Kaine's war powers resolution seeking to rein in Trump's military action against Venezuela.6 But there are many more—and harder—steps.
That's why MoveOn has launched an emergency campaign to stop Trump from occupying Venezuela and invading other countries. Our first big action is to erect billboards, first in Washington, D.C., today, and then—if we can raise the money—expanding to key places across the country to turbocharge the pressure on Congress to rein in Trump.
We know more people than ever are living paycheck to paycheck right now. But if you can afford it, will you start a monthly donation of $5 to MoveOn to help us put up hard-hitting billboards and then keep building a loud and very visible opposition to Trump's oil profiteering and rush to war?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
You may feel powerless when it comes to war overseas.
But together, we are not powerless.
The movement against the Iraq War fundamentally changed the politics of this country because of the mass outpouring of rage from people like you.
Over the coming days and weeks, many will tell us that Trump's military escalation in Venezuela and threats across the globe are too complicated for us to understand and that only experts should weigh in.
They believe people like us should shut up while oil executives and weapons manufacturers get special access to White House meetings.
They are wrong.
MoveOn has been here before—and made a difference.
Together, we built an immense anti-war movement through our opposition to the Iraq War, and we organized everyday people to work around the clock to stop a war with Iran.
Now, we must mobilize together like never before to stop Trump's recklessness before it's too late and violence escalates not just in Venezuela but across the globe.
Please, if you can afford it, chip in $5 a month to MoveOn for our emergency campaign to put up hard-hitting billboards and then keep building a loud and very visible opposition to Trump's oil profiteering and rush to war.

Thanks for all you do.
