Dear MoveOn member, Renee Nicole Good was murdered point-blank by a masked, unidentifiable ICE agent in Minneapolis yesterday while peacefully observing an ICE operation out of concern for her neighbors. This was an extrajudicial killing by ICE agents, who are exempt from any accountability for their lethal, unlawful actions against civilians. Federal agents have shot people 14 times since Trump took office, with four fatalities, and we've witnessed agents shoot at people observing ICE raids.1 Renee wasn't the first person to be killed by unlawful ICE agents, and she won't be the last unless we act. Will you sign the petition demanding that Congress vote on legislation NOW to unmask ICE agents and hold them accountable for their violence in our communities? The officer who killed Renee Nicole Good was masked and did not have a visible badge identifying him. Kristi Noem and DHS have already falsely accused Good of "domestic terrorism" despite video showing Good attempting to leave the scene. Noem and the Trump administration care more about protecting their lethal ICE operations and covering for their rogue agent's recklessness than the rights and lives of Americans. ICE's anonymity is enabling their murderous abuse. Demand that Congress force ICE to take off their masks. Renee Nicole Good's family woke up this morning without her. In an instant, Trump's deportation machine, carried out by rogue ICE agents, ripped a mother from her family. We know this is not an isolated tragedy—thousands of families have been torn apart as ICE continues to terrorize our communities without accountability. Both the House and Senate have already introduced legislation that would unmask ICE, require agents to clearly display identification, and be held accountable for unlawful violations. California has already acted, passing a mask ban for law enforcement to protect civilians. Trump is now suing to block it because he knows his mass deportation quotas can't be met without secrecy, intimidation, and unlawfulness.2 For a full year, masked agents have been abducting people off the streets, raiding schools, libraries, and churches, and now they're killing civilians who are holding them accountable. We can't wait for another tragic death to happen. Sign the petition demanding that Congress act now to protect all of our rights and rein in ICE!
