Dear fellow MoveOn member,
I've spent decades trying to understand how power works—who has it, who doesn't, and what happens when the people who have it decide they don't have to answer to anyone.
So when I tell you that this moment is different from anything we've faced before, I'm not being dramatic. I'm being precise.
MoveOn and the No Kings coalition just announced the next No Kings mobilization: No Kings: Vote Early on October 17. And I want to be clear about what makes this one different from the three that came before it.
The first three No Kings actions were about sending a message—getting millions of people into the streets, in every state, in red counties and blue ones, to say plainly that power in this country doesn't belong to kings, billionaires, or politicians who think they're above the law. And our message rang out far and wide: No Kings 3 last March was the largest single-day protest in American history.
October 17 is not that. It's the next step.
Those in power and their billionaire allies now are trying to lock in the evils of authoritarianism and oligarchy by rigging November’s election. They are undermining trust in the vote, rolling back voting rights, making voting less accessible, and sowing chaos to make it harder for people’s voices to be heard.
So this No Kings, we're turning people power into voter power. October 17 will be a nationwide day of early voting and getting plugged into the local work of protecting the vote—before Election Day, before anyone else gets to decide what happens next.
This is where MoveOn comes in—and why we need your help.
MoveOn is one of the core organizations coordinating No Kings nationally. And MoveOn plays an essential role in the coalition that no other organization is positioned to provide: MoveOn's team works one-on-one with volunteer hosts organizing events all across the country—getting hosts set up, training them, safety-planning with them, and making sure that every single event has what it needs to succeed. This is the unglamorous—but critical—work that can turn October 17 into a day that changes history.
And it must, because our democracy is on fire. Will you start a monthly donation of $5 to MoveOn to power No Kings: Vote Early on October 17—and the sustained effort that must follow it?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
I don't send fundraising emails lightly. But I've watched this movement grow over the past year and a half, and I believe we've reached the moment where sending a message isn't enough anymore. Now it's about whether we show up for the unglamorous work of organizing that makes democracy actually function.
In America, the people choose their leaders. Leaders don't get to choose who votes.
The time is now. We have five weeks to use the tools of democracy before anyone else decides what happens to them.
MoveOn urgently needs your help to have the resources to turn No Kings: Vote Early into a huge wave of voter participation and election protection.
Please join me. Will you donate $5 a month to power this movement through October 17 and beyond?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
Thanks for all you do.
