After ICE's invasion of Minneapolis, the Trump administration labeled ICE protesters as "violent opportunists and agitators." Trump's Department of Homeland Security then investigated and spied on a major climate organization, two labor unions, and a socialist group for supposed "domestic terror financing."
After Trump's Department of Justice threw ICE protestors in prison for decades in Texas, the DOJ charged 15 activists in Minnesota with obstructing ICE. And Stephen Miller characterized Trump's political opponents as "enemies of civilization."
These shocking developments are all part of Trump, Miller, and Kash Patel's government-wide persecution of people and organizations that oppose their far-right agenda. Over 20 House Democrats launched an inquiry into these authoritarian attacks — and Congress must do more to fight back right away.

The Trump administration's NSPM-7 tasked federal law enforcement with proactively identifying "domestic terrorists," vaguely defined as anyone holding "extremist" positions on race, gender or migration, expressing views hostile to "traditional American" families or religion, or showing support for "anti-capitalism."
The White House is labeling dissenters as "domestic terrorists" under NSPM-7. It's a direct assault on the First Amendment in an attempt to vilify and punish protesters.
Reps. Jim McGovern and Delia Ramirez led a letter to the Trump administration, writing, "We are deeply troubled by public commitments to deploy the full force of the State and Treasury departments against loosely defined 'far-left networks' and their alleged 'enablers' and urge you to immediately reverse course."
Beating back NSPM-7 is a frontline fight against Trump's authoritarian attempt to end the rule of law and jail political opponents. Congress must fight back to preserve our democracy.
