Winnable.

Don’t believe the cynics

Pamela,

Never let anyone tell you that these fights aren’t winnable.

Of course, we have our work cut out for us. We’ve seen outrageous attacks on multiracial democracy in the past several weeks, including new rigged voting maps that silence voters of color.

But we’ve also seen a movement rising up to fight back. And we’ve seen that new gerrymanders aren’t inevitable, even though extremists want you to think they are.

South Carolina lawmakers failed to pass new voting maps that would have eliminated their only congressional district where Black voters are free to elect the candidates of their choice.

Georgians broke early-vote records with over a million ballots cast before May’s elections, showing that people are fired up to take ownership over our democracy. Democrats’ early turnout surged by 54% compared to the same point four years ago.

Across the South, this movement has helped drive grassroots organizing since the Supreme Court’s ruling in Callais — with an estimated 1 million+ contacts to voters across Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee these last few weeks to oppose new rigged maps.

That’s exactly the type of mobilization we need to stop additional gerrymanders in the short term and build a more robust, more representative democracy in the long term.

This month, we’re rallying Georgians to oppose new rigged maps in a special redistricting session that Governor Brian Kemp just called.

And for years to come, we’ll keep fighting for fair representation and the freedom to vote — to stop new attempts at voter suppression, and to pass new, affirmative voting rights protections at the state and federal level.

When we suit up, come together, and fight for a democracy where everyone’s voice gets heard, we can make real change.

Chip in now to power the fight for free and fair elections at this critical hour.

In solidarity,

The Fair Fight Action Team
