| On June 19th, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved people finally learned they were free. Today, 161 years later, we must remind ourselves of the ongoing struggle for true equality and recommit to fighting racism in our government, our institutions, and society at large. Less than two months ago, the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana v. Callais, marking the biggest rollback of Black voting and political power in 150 years. The systematic disenfranchisement of communities of color across the South that Republicans will pursue will be felt by generations of Americans. Building a more inclusive America has and always will require people to stand up, organize, and fight for what’s right, especially when those in power bully us, threaten us, and try to silence our voices. Team DLCC is proud to stand with state legislators nationwide, Democratic candidates, and supporters like you to commemorate Juneteenth. In solidarity, Team DLCC
