Pamela,
“I never could have anticipated that I would be facing jail time for doing my job. But here we are.”
Those were the words of Fulton County Commissioner Dana Barrett when Republicans tried to get her put in jail for refusing to confirm two election deniers for the Fulton County Board of Elections. She didn’t back down. She’s committed to defending the freedom to vote. Now she’s running for Georgia Secretary of State, our top elections office — and we’ve got her back. Early voting for Dana Barrett’s runoff is already underway. Will you split a donation between her campaign and Fair Fight if you believe we need more leaders who are ready to go to the mat for our democracy? If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will process automatically:
Take it from Stacey Abrams, who just personally endorsed Dana Barrett: “I am proud to endorse Dana Barrett for Secretary of State because she has the record, the experience, and the backbone to stand up to anyone who seeks to undermine our elections. “On the Fulton County Commission, Dana protected Georgia’s elections from MAGA interference, defending the integrity of elections and making sure every vote counts. Dana is a proven fighter who will never give up on us.” —Stacey Abrams Meanwhile, on the Republican side, one of the remaining candidates is an election denier who called himself “the Black Donald Trump.” The other has pushed for voter suppression legislation in the Georgia General Assembly. And remember: on January 2, 2021, when Trump was working furiously to overturn the election he’d lost, he got on the phone with Georgia’s Secretary of State and told him to “find 11,780 votes" to flip the results. We must make sure that the next person who holds that seat — who could take the next version of that phone call — is someone who’s committed to upholding free and fair elections. Someone who isn’t afraid to stand up for our values in the face of threats. Dana Barrett is the Democracy Champion we need as Georgia’s Secretary of State. Split a contribution between her campaign and Fair Fight to help get her over the finish line in the June 16 runoff — and help elect more leaders who fight for voting rights. In solidarity, The Fair Fight Team
