Pamela,
As soon as anti-democracy lawmakers got the go-ahead from the Supreme Court, they leapt into action. Across the South, they have rushed to draw new congressional maps that are deliberately designed to eliminate representation for communities of color.
Their speed is matched only by their shamelessness.
But they are not the only ones who know how to act fast.
The fair maps movement is fighting back at every turn for a democracy that lifts up every voice.
We’ve already been confronting a national redistricting crisis — which escalated when the Virginia Supreme Court struck down a voter-approved countermeasure and the U.S. Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act.
Now we’re up against nothing less than the rapid rise of a new political Jim Crow era — where one group hoards power by forcing people of color to take a back seat.
We’ve always planned for the worst-case scenario in the fight for democracy. We’re more than ready to address these threats head-on.
President Obama and I founded Redistricting Action to drive powerful grassroots organizing when our very democracy is on the line. And together, Pamela, we can keep rallying Americans behind fair maps and fair representation.
Make a donation right now and your support will be put directly to use to counter the rising attacks on free and fair elections. In solidarity,
Eric H. Holder
82nd Attorney General of the United States
