Pamela,
We’ve been preparing for exactly this moment. Last year, Fair Fight Action teamed up with Black Voters Matter Fund to highlight a Voting Rights Act case that wasn’t ringing enough alarm bells. The case? Louisiana v. Callais. In a series of reports, we identified how the Supreme Court could let extremist lawmakers rig new voting maps that would eviscerate representation for Black and brown Americans — potentially swinging 19 U.S. House seats to the GOP and eliminating 191 state legislative seats, the vast majority held by Black elected officials. That would be enough to secure a generation of one-party Republican rule. We called it out for what it was: an existential threat to free and fair elections. But we also laid out how we could push back strategically and effectively with rapid-response mobilization and long-term organizing. And we put those plans into place — because if you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready. Now that the Supreme Court has, in fact, gutted the Voting Rights Act, and now that extremist lawmakers are, in fact, racing to rig new maps, we are fighting back for fair elections and fair representation. Split a donation of any amount between Fair Fight Action and Black Voters Matter Fund to help power this work and defend democracy.

Today, both of our organizations are supporting the National Day of Action for Voting Rights, including rallies in Selma and Montgomery, Alabama.
We will say it loud and clear with one voice: Hands. Off. Our. Votes. And in the coming days, weeks, months, and years to come — as long as it takes — we will keep fighting for a multiracial democracy where our leaders are truly accountable to “we, the people.” ALL the people. By organizing across the South, building widespread opposition to rigged voting maps, mobilizing constituents to speak out to their lawmakers, and continuing the long fight for a democracy that includes every voice, we are marching forward for the freedom to vote, and for the freedom to have that vote count. If you can support this fight with a split donation today, please give now, and please show your ongoing commitment to free and fair elections. In solidarity, The Fair Fight Action Team
