Pamela, this is huge: Last night a dam broke on Trump’s illegal, disastrous war on Iran, and if we have anything to say about it, there’ll be nothing he or Speaker Mike Johnson can do to put it back together.
Late yesterday, Speaker Johnson pulled Rep. Gregory Meeks’ war powers resolution (WPR), which would terminate hostilities against Iran’s government, from the floor — flexing a cowardly procedural move because he didn’t have the votes to stop it.[1]
Rep. Meeks’ resolution would have passed if it had been voted on. And it’s not just the House where momentum is building: Just days ago, a bipartisan coalition in the Senate also advanced Senator Tim Kaine’s WPR, 50-47.
Margins in Congress are narrow — the last WPR vote in the House failed on a 212-212 tie. We can’t afford to give up any ground when we’re so close. That’s why we need you to help keep the pressure on.

With political and policy failures mounting, we know the President is about to go all in on a pressure campaign to hold Republicans in line.
After more than 80 days of unnecessary, unjustifiable war, Trump's losing favor in Congress and among the public. Since it started, joint U.S.-Israeli strikes have reportedly killed 1,700 Iranian civilians; led to the deaths of 13 U.S. servicemembers, and injured hundreds more. People across the globe are struggling under the impacts of this war, including a 3.8% inflationary spike and $4.50-a-gallon gas here at home. More economic pain is on the way.
But by continuing to overwhelm congressional offices with demands to end the war on Iran, we can secure the majority of lawmakers we need to stop the violence for good and save lives. That’s where you come in.
While Congress steps back for the Memorial Day recess, our work is only deepening — and our demands are only getting louder.
Tell Congress: Pass a war powers resolution to stop Trump’s disastrous, illegal war on Iran!
Thank you for working for peace,
