Team, it’s Rep. Jim Clyburn. Everything has changed in our fight for the House majority.
Donald Trump’s handpicked Supreme Court gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act – opening the door for Republicans to bring back racial gerrymandering and undo decades of progress.
This issue is personal for me. I had the honor of fighting for the passage of the Voting Rights Act alongside many, including my dear friend, the late Congressman John Lewis. It was a moment of tremendous hope and inspiration for our country.
But now, our democracy is under attack from Donald Trump’s endless quest to maintain total power – we must fight to protect every American’s right to vote, no matter their race, gender, or religion.
This fight is bigger than one district. It’s about whether our democracy belongs to the people, or to politicians who change the rules when they don’t like the results.
We cannot, and will not, let Republicans erase our hard-fought progress.
