The Trump administration reignited its efforts to get Jimmy Kimmel off the air in a blatant attack on free speech.
Donald and Melania Trump both called for ABC to fire Kimmel after jokes the comedian made on his show last week. Trump's Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chair Brendan Carr is launching a review of Disney's broadcast licenses — a clear weaponization of his powers to serve Trump's authoritarian whims.
Carr is abusing his role at the FCC and infringing on the First Amendment. Congress must combat Trump’s open attempts to crush free speech and hold this administration accountable!

Carr threatened Kimmel, ABC, and Disney last year over jokes Trump didn't like. In March, he threatened to revoke broadcast licenses for news agencies that reported critically on Trump’s war on Iran.
CNN reported this week that "sources at ABC and Disney are well aware that the MAGA media attacks against Jimmy Kimmel are not in good faith. The WH comms director tweeted that Kimmel made a 'disgusting joke about assassinating the President.' Kimmel did no such thing."
It’s clear that Carr is more concerned with loyalty to Trump than with protecting the First Amendment, media freedom, and the public interest. Congress must remove him and end these attacks on free speech.
