Dear Pamela, We want you on our team, but before we ask you to join us, we want to tell you about how States Win came to be. We are not exaggerating when we say that States Win had grassroots beginnings. In the dark days after the 2016 election, we were all in shock. Like so many of you, we were looking for a way to take action. We were struck by the fact that Democrats made up the majority of the country, but did not hold the majority of power. None of it made sense. We started to ask ourselves if we could find a way to direct progressive resources from places where they exist, to the places where they could actually be making a difference. Days after the 2016 election, our founder and former Executive Director Rita Bosworth sat down on her sofa and started a website. Within a few short months, she was joined by four other co-founders – and most importantly, tens of thousands of volunteers who believed in our mission. We made our first-ever endorsements a few months later in the spring of 2017, and with our community of about 30,000 members, we raised over $350,000 for our candidates and made nearly 340,000 voter contacts on their behalf. Fast forward to 2026, and we have supported 185 candidates across 18 states. We've contacted nearly 1.4 million voters and invested over $800,000 in 2025 alone. This year, we're recruiting even more volunteers, hiring dozens of fellows, and gearing up for a busy 2026 cycle.
