[2] We need to call the President's election meddling for what it is – a calculated power grab.   As if silencing voters wasn't enough, just six weeks into the year, he's turning our government into a weapon against our own people:   His FBI agents arrested Don Lemon and independent journalist Georgia Fort for reporting on ICE's presence in Minnesota – a blatant attempt to intimidate the free press, curb free speech, and silence dissent. [3]   His Department of Justice is demanding your private voter data – including names, addresses, and partial Social Security numbers from people in 24 states and Washington, D.C. to fuel his anti-voter conspiracies.   President Trump is trying to give himself a $10 billion payout from our tax dollars through the Trump vs. IRS lawsuit, a baseless, blatant cash grab with no (that Common Cause is taking legal action to stop).   These are all connected. Trump promised he'd make government work for ordinary people – but the only person he really cares about making it work for is himself.   So, he's tearing down our democracy brick by brick – and revealing his ultimate goal: absolute, unchecked, and permanent power.
