Pamela, the Department of Justice continues to carry out Trump's crusade to undermine our democracy. Under the repeatedly debunked claim of voter fraud, the DOJ is demanding that states turn over sensitive voter roll data — including information such as driver's license and social security numbers — to the Department of Homeland Security.
And if states don't comply, the DOJ is threatening to sue them. Last year alone, the DOJ sued 21 states and D.C. as part of its anti-democracy campaign. And it is continuing to do so, having just filed new lawsuits against Connecticut and Arizona.
They're using bald-faced lies to justify their intimidation tactics, all part of an attempt to spread distrust in our electoral process. This is a vicious cycle, and it will only escalate ahead of the midterm elections. It's on pro-democracy grassroots organizations like ours to take every action we can to protect voters and fair elections across the country — will you chip in today to support that work?
Simply put, the federal government is trying to undermine our elections.
The DOJ is caving to political pressure to do the bidding of an administration that is keen on relitigating elections that it lost, and preventing the will of the people from prevailing in the next election.
These attacks are illegal and intrusive, and they must not go unanswered.
The team at Redistricting Action exists to fight back for democracy on several fronts at the same time — to empower citizens to stop the ongoing power grab of map manipulation across the country while also combating blatant attacks on the right to vote. Make a donation to ensure that we can continue to defend our free and fair elections and help voters make their voices heard.
Thank you for responding to this urgent moment by taking action,
Art Mitchell
