Trump's Environmental Protection Agency just ended its own ability to fight the climate crisis.1
Today, the Trump administration repealed the "endangerment finding," the scientific basis that allows the EPA to regulate climate pollution under the Clean Air Act. They're defanging the EPA and giving Big Oil a license to pollute – and we can't let this reckless assault on climate action stand.
The Trump administration's actions are about saving the dirty, deadly, and yes, dying fossil fuel industry – not about saving taxpayers' money. Even though they claim this will save "$1.3 trillion in crushing regulations," the fact remains: Allowing unchecked climate pollution will cost us all an estimated $87 trillion in lost homes, lost lives, and destroyed communities.2
While the Trump administration can manipulate the EPA, reject decades of climate science, and abandon every climate promise the U.S. has ever made, they can never suppress the truth that ordinary people are paying the price for Big Oil's profits. And they can never silence our demands for climate action.
Nearly 10,000 grassroots supporters like you added their names to 350.org's official public comment defending the endangerment finding, and we delivered it before the deadline for public input in September.
We're disappointed – but not shocked – that the Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding over the objections of the public. But this loss only strengthens our resolve and our global demand to make climate polluters pay. Our collective power is the strongest tool we have, and it's needed now more than ever.
