We must act quickly to stop the SAVE Act in the Senate.

House GOP passes sweeping anti-voting bill that could disenfranchise millions, sends measure to Senate
—Democracy Docket

We don't have much time, Pamela. Just last night, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the SAVE Act, a sweeping voter suppression bill backed by Donald Trump that could block tens of millions of Americans from voting. The bill will head to the U.S. Senate next.

Donald Trump is lighting a fire under Senate Republicans to pass this voter suppression bill with measures that one historian called "the most extraordinary attack on voting rights in American history" and "an attempt to destroy American democracy as we know it."

The so-called SAVE Act could block tens of millions of eligible American voters from casting their ballots. It's a modern-day poll tax that would force people to show expensive government documents in person before registering to vote — documents that 21 million Americans do not have easy access to.

We're fighting to stop the SAVE Act by mobilizing people in key states to contact their Senators. We're raising the alarm about the harm this bill would do to our democracy. And we're working to make sure voters have the information they need to participate in free and fair elections.

But we count on strong grassroots support to drive this work forward. Please rush a donation today as Trump goes full speed ahead to get this voter suppression bill through Congress.

We should all have an equal say in our democracy, but anti-voter laws limit whose voice gets heard in elections.

The SAVE Act would put particular burdens on working-class Americans, communities of color, military voters, tribal citizens, rural Americans, survivors of natural disasters, and tens of millions of married women who've changed their names.

It could also enable future voter purges, which are notorious for removing eligible Americans from the rolls.

And Senate Republicans are so eager to pass this anti-voter bill that they're scheming about changing the filibuster rules — which could allow them to ram through this legislation on a party-line vote.

By passing laws that place new obstacles between voters and the ballot box, extreme lawmakers think they can shield themselves from accountability.

They think they can give themselves free rein to enact radical, unpopular policies — like more tax breaks for billionaires and more health care cuts for working people — without worrying about fair competition in fair elections.

But we're fighting to stop their voter suppression. And activists like you have the power to help defend the freedom to vote from anti-democracy forces.

Make a donation today to help block anti-voter bills like the SAVE Act and help grow our movement for free and fair elections.

In solidarity,

The Fair Fight Action Team

P.S. Senators are still making up their minds, and they need to hear from you — constituent voices go a long way to show where the public stands on critical issues. Contact your Senators by calling the switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and demand that they oppose the SAVE Act.
