Tell Congress: Reject funding for ICE and protect our communities

Funding for DHS is running out.

Win Without War

Trump's deadly deportation force is out of control, Pamela.

The last thing they need is more taxpayer dollars to fuel their violence. But that's exactly what Republican leadership in Congress would give ICE and CBP — unless a majority of lawmakers continues to defend their communities by voting NO.

Funneling billions more to ICE and CBP while they terrorize our communities, tear-gas schools, and kill innocent people is simply bad policy. As popularity for Trump's deportation force sinks and outrage over its lawless violence in Minneapolis and beyond grows, it's also become bad politics. That means we've got crucial momentum to make a positive impact, and we intend to use every ounce of it.

The closer we get to the final vote, the more pressure lawmakers will feel to cut a deal, including one that all but ensures people remain at risk. We need to make sure members of Congress don't sell out the people they represent in these final moments, and the best way we do that is by speaking out together with one voice:

Tell your lawmakers: Don't cave in! Protect our communities by voting NO on funding Trump's violent deportation force.

ACT NOW

ICE alone already has a $19 BILLION annual operating budget, thanks to last year's reconciliation bill. The $11 billion plus-up Congress is considering would triple its record-high 2025 budget — exceeding the military budgets of all but 15 nations.[1]

What ICE needs isn't more money. It's massive reform, real accountability, and to get off our streets and out of our communities.

In this watershed moment, many of the reforms being discussed — requiring ICE agents to display ID, prohibiting masks in most cases, and mandating the use of body cameras — are a welcome start, but don't go nearly far enough to warrant Congress's blank-check approach to continue.

A vote to plow more taxpayer resources toward the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) doesn't just have repercussions for the individuals facing ICE's terror today, Pamela, it all but ensures the lawless violence we've seen deepens and expands.

We can think of many better uses for the tens of billions of dollars on the table. In fact, Senate Democrats, along with two Republicans, already voted to take the $75 billion intended for ICE over the next four years and redirect it to undo cuts to Medicaid and health care.

Repairing the social safety net while stopping ICE from further, exponential harm? Sounds like a better deal to us.

With a vote on DHS funding imminent, let's send a resounding message demanding Congress reject so much as a single penny more for ICE and CBP.

Send a message to your elected officials demanding they REJECT funding for Trump's deportation force without sweeping reforms that protect communities from ICE and CBP's violence.

Thank you for working for peace,
The Win Without War team
